It’s hard not to think about time during an experience like this. I’m a planner, a chronic think-aheader, a not-waste-a-seconder. Before leaving to go abroad, everyone told me that it would go by faster than expected and to take advantage of every opportunity. In the past few weeks, as we’ve hit the half-way mark of the experience, I’ve been able to think about just how long four months really is. It’s long enough to have some truly amazing experiences, form really close friendships, and travel to incredible places. It’s not long enough, though, to fit in every opportunity that presents itself, and I’ve had to learn that that’s okay. I won’t make it to every trip, every museum, every park in Santiago, but I’m proud to say I’ve really made the most of the time I’ve been here so far!
Some of this week’s adventures:
Free Salsa lessons! In Santiago Central, there’s a bar that offers free salsa classes every week. I’ve been meaning to go with a group of friends who go each week, but I’ve never been able to and remembered at the same time. After a couple of oral presentations at the beginning of the week, it was time for some salsa on Wednesday! The class was super fun for a beginner like me with almost no idea of what salsa really is, so I definitely learned a lot :)

Exploring Santiago by foot! Veronique and I decided to venture around the neighborhoods across the river, so we spent a few hours exploring Bellavista and Recolecta. Although it can’t be Valparaiso, Santiago definitely has some cool street art if you really look for it. We also stopped by La Vega, the large produce market in Santiago, and the Mercado Central, which is known for its varieties of fish.
