The final international adventure: one week in Kenya with my three sisters. We met up in Nairobi, flew on a tiny plane to the Maasai Mara, and spent four wonderful days seeing tons of animals and learning so much from our Maasai guides. We saw tons of lions - mating, hunting, howling at night, and laying out on salt licks. We saw baby elephants, a cheetah running, and the first herds of migrating zebras and wildebeests. Our guides at Porini Lion Camp were seriously the best - they could spot lions from a kilometer away.
We spent the next few days exploring Nairobi - mostly its traffic. We visited an elephant orphanage and fed giraffes at a sanctuary. We visited Nairobi National Park to see some black and white rhinos to complete the "Big 5" - leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant, and rhino.
I'm partial to Malawi, but I must say, traffic aside, Kenya is a pretty amazing place:
